Camila Cabello Straight-Up Crushed This Challenging Plank Circuit — and with a Smile

Cabello's trainer recently shared a series of Instagram Stories in which the singer sweats her way through an equipment-free core routine you're going to want to steal.

Planks are an incredible full-body exercise that stimulates your core, activates your lower body, and works your upper body extensively. It's also one of the most adaptable exercises you can perform. Singer Camila Cabello seems to understand the numerous benefits of planks as she was seen executing three distinct variations with a grin on her face (indeed, a grin!).

Last Wednesday, Jenna Willis, Cabello's fitness trainer, posted snippets from their workout session on her Instagram Stories. The footage showed Cabello completing what Willis termed a "5 min upper body & #abfinisher," utilizing only her own body weight. However, it is critical to note that not using any equipment doesn't mean the workout lacks intensity or challenge.(For those who might not be aware, Willis has previously shared details about Cabello's workout routine with Shape).

In the initial video snippet, Willis turns her lens towards Cabello, indicating that the workout is going to be tough. She then proceeds to encourage and motivate her trainee with lively words like, "Ooh, girlie, pop!" Amidst this, an intensely focused Cabello continues to master a challenging exercise known as "up down plank jacks," which Willis explains is a combination of an army crawl and plank jack.

Initiating from a straight-arm plank position, with her palms directly under her shoulders, Cabello gradually drops one arm after another into a forearm plank while simultaneously jumping her feet in and out mimicking a lower-body jumping jack. Subsequently, she performs a complex routine referred to by Willis as a "plank reach foot tap."

Cabello begins in a straight-arm plank, lifting one arm at a time. She follows this by piking her hips up high and touching the opposite foot with the same arm that was raised earlier. This sequence is repeated on the other side for a duration of 40 seconds. The exercise demands balance, control, and stability, as it's crucial not to sway your arms and maintain steady control through your core, legs, and upper body. Despite the intensity, Cabello accomplishes it perfectly, with Willis applauding her efforts from the sidelines saying, "Yes, girl. Beautiful. Yes. The more you reach, the more you feel."

Cabello finishes her intense routine with a "plank saw," an advanced version of the standard forearm plank. This Grammy-winning artist skillfully moves her body in a forward and backward motion, while maintaining a straight back and flexed toes, simulating a sawing motion with her body. The aim of this exercise is to harness strength from her core, glutes, hamstrings, and quads, preventing any side-to-side sway or dip in her lower back. Although it looks deceptively simple, this exercise sets all major muscle groups on fire. Did you also feel your core ache just by watching Cabello master this demanding circuit? If not, then here's something that will surely make you feel the burn: Willis suggests performing each move in this three-part routine for 40 seconds, resting for 20 seconds in between, and repeating it twice or until you reach five minutes. It's a quick yet high-intensity AMRAP (as many reps as possible) workout that keeps boredom at bay. All you need is just a mat and some space. And honestly, it doesn't get better than that. Don't forget to also try out Rita Ora's intense AMRAP workout next.
